Notice how the president checks the Legislature with veto power, meaning the power to block bills from becoming law.  On the other hand, Congress holds impeachment power and have the ability to override vetoes to check the power of the executive.

These co-equal branches of government are designed to keep on eye on the other branches, and to be able to prevent any branch from becoming too powerful.
